Christian Songs for Anxiety and Peace: Worship Through the Storm

Christian Songs for Anxiety and Peace: Worship Through the Storm

There are moments when anxiety feels so loud that it’s hard to slow your thoughts down.

I’ve had days where my mind just keeps going, jumping from one worry to the next, and no matter what I do, I can’t seem to quiet it. In those moments, one thing that has helped me is turning on worship music and just letting it play.

Not to fix everything instantly, but to gently shift my focus back to God.

This playlist is made for those moments.

Why Worship Helps When You Feel Anxious

Worship has a way of grounding you when everything feels overwhelming. It brings truth back into your thoughts, even when your feelings are all over the place.

Sometimes I don’t have the right words to pray, and that’s where music helps. It reminds me of who God is, even when I don’t feel steady.

“Cast your burden on the Lord, and He shall sustain you…” (Psalm 55:22, NKJV)

Listen to the Playlist

This is a collection of songs I’ve personally found comforting during anxious or overwhelming moments. Some meet you right in the middle of the struggle, and others help bring you back to a place of peace.

A Few Songs to Start With

If you’re not sure where to begin, these songs are a good place to start:

• Praise You in this Storm - Casting Crowns
• Fear Is a Liar – Zach Williams
• Somebody Prayed – Crowder
• Left It in the River – Jamie MacDonald
• Trust in God – Elevation Worship
• Peace Be Still – Hope Darst
• Jireh – Elevation Worship & Maverick City Music

Each one carries a reminder that you’re not alone, even when it feels like it.

A Song That Stayed With Me

There was a season in my life where my anxiety felt overwhelming in a way I had never experienced before.

Even just getting out of bed and taking a shower felt like an impossible task. Everything felt heavy, and I didn’t feel like myself.

That was the first time I heard Praise You in This Storm by Casting Crowns.

Something about that song met me right where I was. Not in a way that instantly fixed everything, but in a way that reminded me I wasn’t alone in it.

Finding my faith again helped carry me through that season.

And I also thank God every day for my husband, who carried me through it in ways I can’t fully put into words.

Sometimes God works through the people He places in our lives, and I’m so grateful He did.

When Worship Brings You to Tears

Sometimes when I listen to worship music, I get emotional.

There are moments where a song hits something deep, and I can feel it building up. I’ve learned not to push that away. Sometimes you just need to let yourself cry.

Those tears aren’t weakness. They’re release.

They’re a way of letting go of everything you’ve been holding in and bringing it before God. And in a quiet way, they can be healing.

What Has Helped Me Through Anxiety

One thing that has helped me personally is not running from the anxious thoughts.

Instead of trying to shut them down or ignore the “what ifs,” I’ve started bringing them to God and talking them through in prayer.

Sometimes that looks like finishing the thought:

“What if this happens?”

And instead of stopping there, I continue:

“Okay… if it does, God will still be with me.”

That shift has helped me move from fear to trust.

Not perfectly, and not every time, but it’s helped me face those thoughts instead of being overwhelmed by them.

If You’re in a Hard Moment Right Now

If anxiety has been weighing on you, I just want to remind you of this:

You don’t have to have everything figured out.
You don’t have to feel strong all the time.

God is still with you in the middle of it.

“Fear not, for I am with you…” (Isaiah 41:10, NKJV)

Even if all you can do is sit, listen, and breathe for a minute, that’s okay.

And if you’re really struggling, please don’t try to carry it all on your own. Pray on it, and reach out to someone you trust. Talk to someone. You don’t have to go through it alone.

Final Thought

This isn’t about having perfect faith or never feeling anxious.

It’s about coming back to God again and again, even in the middle of it.

If this playlist helps you slow down, breathe, and remember that He is with you, then it’s doing exactly what I hoped it would.
